Adani Defence & Aerospace signed a five-year agreement with Indo-Russian Rifles Pvt Ltd (IRRPL) to manufacture and supply India-made 7.62×39 mm ammunition for AK-203 assault rifles produced in India, according to PTI as cited by Mint. The deal is intended to provide a domestic ammunition supply chain for the AK-203 programme over the contract period.
Why it matters
A contracted local source of ammunition alongside domestic rifle production can reduce reliance on overseas suppliers for an essential consumable in the AK-203 small-arms supply chain.
