Reliance announced ₹1 lakh crore investment plan for CBG plants in Andhra Pradesh

Reliance Industries said it plans to invest ₹1 lakh crore in Andhra Pradesh to set up compressed biogas (CBG) plants, according to remarks reported by PTI. The proposed plants would use agricultural residue, animal dung, food waste and other organic waste to produce methane-rich gas for use as fuel in transport, industry and commercial applications.
Why it matters
If implemented, these plants would add waste-to-energy fuel production capacity in Andhra Pradesh and create a new market for agricultural and organic waste feedstocks.
