Commerce Ministry allows sale of excess and unauthorised FCV tobacco at AP auctions

Location not reported24 Sept 2026

A Commerce Ministry gazette notification authorised the Tobacco Board to let registered traders and dealers buy excess flue-cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco from the 2025–26 season in Andhra Pradesh at the Board’s auction platforms, including crop grown above fixed limits and crop grown by unregistered farmers. Such sales will attract only the normal service charges under the Tobacco Board Act, rather than additional penalties.

Why it matters

It legalises a route for farmers and registered buyers in Andhra Pradesh to trade excess/unauthorised FCV tobacco through authorised auction platforms, reducing the financial penalty barrier to sale.
