Premier Energies commissions 7 GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Naidupeta

Premier Energies said it has successfully commissioned a new 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, taking its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW. The company said it has initiated trial runs at the ₹3,293 crore plant, which is designed to produce about 88,000 solar cells per hour.
Why it matters
Commissioning this plant increases domestic solar cell manufacturing capacity, which can support supply availability for high-efficiency solar modules and reduce reliance on imports.
