Andhra Pradesh launched a palmyra seed collection and plantation drive along coast

Andhra Pradesh’s Forest Department launched a palmyra seed collection and plantation drive under the ‘Great Green Wall of Andhra Pradesh’ initiative to create a coastal protective green barrier. The department reported collecting 13 lakh palmyra seeds in the current fruiting season and planting about 1.65 lakh seeds with participation from government departments, schools and local communities, as part of a proposal to establish palmyra groves across 5,499 hectares.
