South Coast Railway’s Vijayawada division installed about 4,864 kWp of solar capacity

South Coast Railway’s Vijayawada division reported installing about 4,864 kWp of solar capacity via 265 rooftop and standalone installations across stations, service buildings/offices, staff quarters and level crossing gates. The division said these solar installations generated 44,06,903 units in 2025-26 and 19,90,741 units from April to July of the current financial year, with associated cost savings and avoided CO2 emissions.
Why it matters
On-site solar generation can reduce the rail division’s grid electricity use and operating costs while lowering emissions across day-to-day railway operations and facilities.
