₹8,970.20 crore Guwahati–Tezpur access-controlled corridor approved in Assam

Guwahati, Assam29 Sept 2026

The article reports approval of a ₹8,970.20 crore project to build a 135.87-km four-lane, access-controlled corridor between Baihata Chariali (near Guwahati) and Tezpur in Assam, to be developed under the BOT (toll) model. The project excludes the 15.11-km Mangaldoi Bypass and includes five major bypasses and associated structures such as bridges, flyovers, underpasses and service roads.

Why it matters

If built as approved, the corridor is intended to increase average travel speeds and reduce travel time between Guwahati and Tezpur, while bypasses aim to reduce congestion in towns along the route.
