Tea Board India opened new tea auction centres in Dibrugarh and Jorhat
Jorhat, Assam9 Oct 2026
Tea Board India said it has opened two new tea auction centres in Dibrugarh and Jorhat, Assam, as part of a process to diversify auction locations and increase buyer competition. The board also said it plans to open an auction centre in Agartala by the end of October 2026 and is trying to reopen the Jalpaiguri auction centre.
Why it matters
More auction centres can widen participation by buyers and give tea producers additional routes to sell tea, which the Tea Board expects will improve price realisation.
