Storage in India’s 166 key reservoirs rose to 117.773 BCM (64.16% of capacity)

Central Water Commission data reported that water storage in India’s 166 key reservoirs reached 117.773 billion cubic metres, or 64.16% of their combined 183.565 BCM capacity, during the week of August 20, 2026. The report said five reservoirs were full and 20 were above 90% capacity, though 35% were half empty and overall storage was 18 percentage points lower than last year.
