BCAS to mandate facial recognition for airport staff entry passes; scanners delivered to 3 airports
New Delhi, Delhi2 Oct 2026
India's Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) said airport entry passes for airline and airport employees will be integrated with a facial recognition system and the entry-pass portal will be fully digitally controlled. Civil aviation officials also said full-body scanner machines have been delivered to three airports and will be installed, with five more airports to receive scanners soon, as part of deploying scanners at eight major airports.
Why it matters
Digitising staff entry passes with facial recognition and rolling out body scanners is intended to tighten aviation security and streamline staff entry at airports where staff and passengers share entry gates.
