The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved a ₹1,789.52 crore Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) for Delhi, according to a government statement. The project is planned to cover 42 traffic corridors in three phases over 24 months, including adaptive signal control at 1,092 locations and automated enforcement at 1,029 locations, with five years of operation and maintenance.
Why it matters
If implemented as planned, the system would enable real-time monitoring and adaptive signal coordination and expand automated enforcement, which can improve traffic flow and incident response using existing road capacity.
