DAC cleared tri-services defence procurement proposals worth ₹1.10 lakh crore

The Defence Acquisition Council cleared tri-services proposals estimated at ₹1.10 lakh crore, including CBRN reconnaissance vehicles, Advanced Light Helicopters, Arudhra radars, marine gas turbines (design, development and subsequent procurement), and other Army/Navy/IAF capability upgrades, according to a Ministry of Defence statement reported by The Hindu BusinessLine. Sources also said the council cleared routine overhaul and repair of 40 Su-30MKI fighter aircraft.
Why it matters
These approvals are a prerequisite for moving multiple defence capability and support procurements into the acquisition pipeline, including systems intended to reduce reliance on foreign vendors for warship propulsion.
