DIAL master plan outlines IGI Airport expansion to ~125M passengers by 2036
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) presented a 2026–2036 master plan for Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport to expand annual passenger handling capacity to around 125 million by 2036, including a new pier at Terminal 3, capacity enhancements at Terminals 1 and 3, and additional aircraft parking stands. The plan also proposes an automated people mover (APM) linking T1 and T3 with Aerocity, the cargo area and the existing airport metro station; DIAL said consultants have been appointed and design work is under way, with a vendor yet to be onboarded.
If implemented, the plan would increase airside/terminal and inter-terminal connectivity capacity at India’s busiest airport, helping accommodate projected long-term passenger growth in the Delhi NCR airport system.
