Delhi Airport recommissions runway 11R/29L after seven-month rehabilitation

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said Indira Gandhi International Airport’s third runway (11R/29L) will return to service from 2026-09-20 after a seven-month rehabilitation programme that began in February 2026. DIAL said the project is completed and required inspections, validations and regulatory approvals have been received for recommissioning; works included resurfacing, a permanent threshold displacement on runway 29L, a new rapid exit taxiway (RET Z1), and upgrades to lighting and pavement strength.
