Defence Production Dept. notified sixth indigenisation list covering 405 defence items

India’s Department of Defence Production notified the sixth Positive Indigenisation List covering 405 defence items, which the Ministry of Defence said will be procured from Indian industry after successful indigenous development. The ministry estimated the list’s business potential at ₹3,070 crore and said the detailed list is available on the SRIJAN Defence Portal with indicative timelines for indigenisation.
Why it matters
Notifying an indigenisation list commits future procurement away from imports for specified parts and subsystems, creating a defined pipeline for domestic manufacturers (including MSMEs) to develop and supply them.
