Digital Communications Commission approved most TRAI recommendations on satcom spectrum

India’s Digital Communications Commission (DoT’s apex decision-making body) approved the majority of TRAI’s recommendations on satellite communications (satcom) spectrum in a meeting held on 2026-09-03, according to sources cited by PTI. The Department of Telecommunications will approach the Cabinet for final approval on satcom spectrum pricing and the allocation process.
Why it matters
This moves India’s satcom spectrum framework closer to final approval, a prerequisite for allocating spectrum and enabling commercial rollouts once remaining clearances are completed.
