Government notified dissolution of the Digital Communications Commission

New Delhi, Delhi19 Sept 2026

The Government of India issued a notification dated 2026-09-19 dissolving the Digital Communications Commission (DCC), an inter-departmental decision-making body in the Department of Telecommunications, with effect from the publication date of the resolution. The DCC (formed in 1989 as the Telecom Commission and renamed in 2018) had been involved in firming up telecom policy matters before they were sent to the Cabinet for final approval.

Why it matters

This changes the institutional mechanism inside the telecom ministry for inter-departmental vetting of major telecom policy and financial decisions before Cabinet consideration.
