India tightened sugar stockholding limits to 15 days for large dealers (Sep–Nov 2026)
New Delhi, Delhi20 Aug 2026
A government order said dealers using more than 10 metric tonnes of sugar per month must hold inventories for no more than 15 days from September 1 to November 30, 2026. The move follows a previous 30-day stock limit and comes amid record domestic sugar prices.
Why it matters
Tighter stockholding rules can curb hoarding and influence short-term market supply availability during peak festival-season demand.
