MoD signs ₹1,577-crore contracts with TASL and NIBE for Army loiter munitions

On August 14, 2026, the Ministry of Defence signed contracts worth ₹1,577 crore with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd and NIBE Ltd to procure 84 loiter munition systems, 840 loiter munitions and accessories for the Indian Army under the 'Buy Indian' category via Fast Track Procedure. TASL will supply 54 systems and 540 munitions (₹1,013.77 crore) and NIBE will supply 30 systems and 300 munitions (₹563.36 crore), with 60% overall indigenous content specified; deliveries are scheduled within 12 months from advance payment.
Why it matters
The procurement is intended to expand the Army’s precision-strike capability up to 100 km and adds new demand for domestically sourced defence materials, components and software.
