India notified the Semicon 2.0 scheme with a ₹1.27 lakh crore outlay

The central government notified the Semicon 2.0 scheme with an outlay of ₹1.27 lakh crore to support development of India’s semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem. The notification says the scheme provides fiscal support across the semiconductor value chain including chip design, capital equipment units, semiconductor fabs, and assembly/packaging/testing.
Why it matters
A notified fiscal-support scheme can enable companies to start or expand semiconductor design, manufacturing, and supply-chain capacity in India by making projects financially viable.
