National AI Skilling Initiative Phase I recorded 60,253 enrolments

India’s National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Skilling Initiative reported 60,253 applications and enrolments under Phase I as of 12 August 2026, according to a Ministry of Information and Broadcasting statement in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. The update also said 4,620 participants completed two modules and 552 completed all four modules of Phase I; Phase II details are still being finalised.
Why it matters
Higher enrolment and module completion indicate AI training capacity is being used at scale, potentially increasing the pool of people with basic AI and generative AI skills.
