India set facility-wise LPG production targets for 21 refiners and producers

In an August 13, 2026 order, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry set facility-wise maximum LPG production targets for 21 refineries and upstream companies, with a combined production potential of 63,810 tonnes per day. The targets are to come into force whenever there is an LPG supply constraint; Reliance Industries' domestic-tariff-area Jamnagar refinery was assigned the largest target of 18,000 tonnes per day.
Why it matters
This creates a standing framework to increase domestic LPG output during import disruptions, aiming to reduce shortages and rationing during supply constraints.
