Oil India said it will invest ₹15,000 crore over 3 years for offshore deepwater exploration
New Delhi, Delhi17 Sept 2026
Oil India Ltd said it plans to invest around ₹15,000 crore over the next three years to explore offshore deep and ultra-deepwater blocks in India. The company said it has acquired about 48,000 sq km across offshore acreages including the Andaman, Krishna-Godavari, Mahanadi and Kerala-Konkan basins, has completed 2D/3D seismic surveys for four blocks (two in KG and two in Mahanadi), and that data processing and vintage-data reprocessing are underway.
Why it matters
If executed, this funding and ongoing seismic work can advance identification and drilling readiness for new domestic offshore oil and gas prospects.
