Union Cabinet approved the Integrated Transport & Logistics Authority (ITLA) SPV
On 2026-10-06, the Union Cabinet approved setting up a Special Purpose Vehicle called the Integrated Transport & Logistics Authority (ITLA) to plan, appraise and monitor transport and logistics projects across modes that are currently handled by separate ministries and agencies. The ITLA will prepare a 10+ year National Transport Master Plan, technically appraise Government of India infrastructure projects costing ₹500 crore or more, monitor implementation of projects above that threshold, and build a National Transport Data Repository drawing on datasets including GSTN e-way bills, FASTag and Vahan.
A single apex authority and shared data repository can align road, rail, ports, aviation and other modes around one plan, potentially reducing coordination bottlenecks in large transport infrastructure delivery.
