India notified amended e-commerce rules with 1-month complaint redress timeline

India’s Consumer Affairs Department notified the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) (Amendment) Rules, 2026, published in the gazette on September 9, 2026. The rules set requirements for e-commerce entities including acknowledging consumer complaints within 48 hours and redressing them within one month, and are to be operational from January 1, 2027.
