Sabarmati (Ahmedabad) Vande Bharat maintenance hub works progress; wheel care shed completed

Western Railway’s Ahmedabad division is developing a ₹307 crore Vande Bharat train maintenance hub at Sabarmati as Phase II of the Sabarmati Integrated Coaching Depot. The article reports that construction of the wheel care shed has been completed, four stabling lines totaling 2,547 metres are complete, the electrical substation building is ready and handed over, and the heavy repair shed is nearing completion.
Why it matters
Once operational, the hub is intended to enable scheduled overhauls of Vande Bharat trainsets in Ahmedabad instead of sending them to other locations, increasing local maintenance capacity as operations expand.
