Union Cabinet approved two semiconductor manufacturing projects in Gujarat under ISM

A PIB release dated 2026-05-05 says the Union Cabinet approved two semiconductor projects under the India Semiconductor Mission with cumulative investment of around ₹3,936 crore. The approvals cover (1) Crystal Matrix Limited’s integrated compound semiconductor fabrication and ATMP facility in Dholera for Mini/Micro-LED display modules (with GaN foundry services) and (2) Suchi Semicon Pvt Ltd’s OSAT facility in Surat for discrete semiconductors; the projects are expected to create 2,230 skilled jobs.
Why it matters
These approvals commit two new semiconductor manufacturing facilities, expanding India’s planned domestic capability in compound semiconductors, packaging/testing, and related supply chains.
