Essar Ports receives LoA to develop 18.33 MTPA Tuna Tekra cargo terminal at Kandla

Essar Ports Limited said it has received a Letter of Award from Deendayal Port Authority to develop a multipurpose cargo terminal at Tuna Tekra in Kandla, Gujarat, with planned capacity of 18.33 million tonnes per annum. The ₹2,276.06 crore project will be developed under a 30-year PPP BOT concession, with Essar Ports investing over ₹1,552.57 crore and DPA contributing ₹723.49 crore for common-user infrastructure.

Why it matters

The project adds planned dry-cargo handling capacity at Kandla and is intended to ease berth congestion and improve the port’s ability to handle larger vessels.
