Micron says its Sanand chip assembly/test plant began commercial production earlier in 2026

Micron CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said Micron began commercial production earlier in 2026 at its semiconductor assembly and test facility in Sanand, Gujarat, and that finished DRAM and NAND products are now being shipped from Gujarat to customers worldwide. He also said Micron plans to scale up assembly and testing output at the Sanand facility “multifold” next year.
Why it matters
Commercial production and outbound shipments indicate India now has an operating semiconductor assembly and test line supplying global customers, not just planned capacity.
