India released a draft National Steel Policy 2047 with capacity and demand targets

The Government of India released the draft National Steel Policy 2047, laying out a roadmap that projects crude steel production capacity of 604 million tonnes and finished steel consumption of 505 million tonnes by 2047. The draft also outlines proposed measures on raw material security (including reducing coking coal import dependence), technology modernisation/digitalisation, and decarbonisation pathways for the steel sector.
