India–New Zealand free trade agreement entered into force
20 Oct 2026
India’s free trade agreement with New Zealand came into force on October 20, 2026. The article says it eliminates tariffs on 100% of Indian exports to New Zealand and provides tariff concessions in India covering 70% of its tariff lines (about 95% of current bilateral trade value), and that the agreement includes new New Zealand visa commitments for Indian nationals, including two Temporary Employment Entry (TEE) visa categories available from October 20, 2026.
Why it matters
An in-force FTA changes the rules for goods trade and certain mobility pathways between the two countries, potentially reducing costs for exporters and creating new visa routes for eligible Indian workers and students in New Zealand.
