Indian Railways approved ₹736 crore for Kavach, signalling, traction and ROB works
Indian Railways approved four projects worth ₹736 crore: Kavach 4.0 deployment across 607.7 route-km in Lucknow Division (₹252 crore), electronic interlocking at seven stations in Solapur Division (₹209 crore), upgrade of electric traction from 1x25 kV to 2x25 kV on the Savalyapuram–Guntur section (₹142 crore), and construction of a four-lane road over bridge replacing Level Crossing No. 53 on the Udhna–Ukai Songadh section in Gujarat (₹133.23 crore). The ROB project is to be cost-shared with the Gujarat government; the article also notes project costs are shared equally between Indian Railways and the state government.
These approvals commit funding to expand automatic train protection, modernise signalling and increase traction capacity, while removing a level crossing to improve safety and reduce road-rail conflicts.
