Indian Railways approved Kavach 4.0, signalling, traction and ROB projects across 4 divisions
Indian Railways approved multiple infrastructure and safety works, including: Kavach Version 4.0 for 607.7 route-km in Lucknow Division (North Eastern Railway) at ₹252 crore; Electronic Interlocking at seven stations in Solapur Division (Central Railway) at ₹209 crore; upgrade of electric traction from 1x25 kV to 2x25 kV on the 73 route-km Savalyapuram–Guntur section (South Coast Railway) at ₹142 crore; and a four-lane road overbridge replacing Level Crossing No. 53 on the Udhna–Ukai Songadh section (Western Railway) at ₹133.2295 crore (cost-sharing with the state government).
These approvals commit funding to expand train protection, signalling, traction capacity and road-rail separation, which can improve operational safety and reduce conflicts at crossings once implemented.
