Study estimates India’s forest ecosystem services at $2.5 trillion annually

A study published in the journal Environmental and Sustainability Indicators used a meta-regression analysis of 45 India-based studies (2000–2024) to estimate the annual value of ecosystem services from India’s forests at about $2.5 trillion. The paper estimates a per-hectare value of about $31,000 per year and reports tropical dry deciduous forests as having the highest annual economic value among forest types ($703 billion).
