Jammu Railway Division begins cement freight movement from Kathua to Anantnag

Jammu Railway Division placed an indent for a BCN rake of cement bags to move by rail from Shaheed Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary Kathua Railway Station (Kathua) to Anantnag Railway Station, marking its first intra-division cement freight movement. The division said loading for the rake will be done from September 14, 2026.
Why it matters
This establishes a new rail freight origin–destination flow for cement into Anantnag, which can support construction-material supply to the Kashmir Valley if it continues as indicated.
