Railway Board approves ₹383.78 crore Vande Bharat maintenance depot at Tatanagar

The Railway Board approved construction of a ₹383.78-crore maintenance depot for Vande Bharat train coaches at Tatanagar railway station in Jamshedpur. The depot will be built in the Loco Colony area by expanding Tatanagar’s existing coaching depot, with facilities for inspection, routine maintenance and washing of Vande Bharat Chair Car and Sleeper rakes.
Why it matters
The depot is intended to increase local maintenance capacity for Vande Bharat rakes, supporting operation of additional services from Tatanagar.
