Hindalco commissioned a 30,000 tpa superfine PPT ATH plant in Belagavi, Karnataka

Hindalco Industries commissioned a greenfield superfine precipitated aluminium trihydrate (PPT ATH) manufacturing plant in Belagavi, Karnataka, with an initial annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes, according to a regulatory filing reported by ETManufacturing. The plant is intended to supply halogen-free fire-protection materials for applications including wires and cables, EVs, polymer insulators, thermal insulation and paints, and is designed for phased expansion to 60,000 tpa.
Why it matters
The commissioning adds domestic production capacity for PPT ATH used in halogen-free flame-retardant cable compounds, which the company says can reduce reliance on imports for this material.
