Karnataka announced ₹100 crore allocation for a Gandhi Smaraka in Belagavi district

Karnataka announced an allocation of ₹100 crore to build a Gandhi Smaraka (memorial) in Belagavi district, and said the money will be set aside in the next State Budget. Separately, the first Gandhi Memorial Pillar was unveiled at Government Arts and Science (GAS) College in Bengaluru as part of a plan to install such pillars at 87 places in the State.
Why it matters
If funded as stated, the allocation and pillar programme would add new public memorial infrastructure tied to Gandhi-related heritage sites in Karnataka.
