BDA completed 1,441 rainwater-harvesting percolation wells across 77 sites in Bengaluru

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) said it has completed 1,441 rainwater-harvesting percolation wells across 77 BDA parks and residential premises in Bengaluru. The wells are part of the ‘One Billion Drops (OBD) – Groundwater Recharge through Percolation Wells’ project implemented with United Way of Bengaluru between February 2025 and February 2026, and are estimated to recharge 184.59 million litres of rainwater annually.
Why it matters
Additional groundwater recharge and reduced runoff can help improve local water availability and contribute to flood mitigation in parts of Bengaluru.
