BWSSB jurisdiction expanded to cover all of Bengaluru Urban district

Karnataka’s Urban Development Department issued a notification expanding the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) jurisdiction from the core city area to the entire Bengaluru Urban district, covering the taluks of North, East, South, Yelahanka and Anekal and villages within them. BWSSB’s mandate in the newly added areas includes planning, implementation, operation and maintenance of drinking water supply, underground drainage, and sewage treatment and disposal.
Why it matters
This expands the agency formally responsible for water and sewerage services, enabling district-wide planning and phased implementation of drinking water and sewage infrastructure beyond the core city limits.
