Bengaluru Cantonment–Whitefield fourth rail line reaches 84% physical progress

Indian Railways said the 38-km Bengaluru Cantonment–Whitefield fourth-line project has reached 84% physical progress (as of Sep 18, 2026). The update was reported alongside ongoing station redevelopment work at Bengaluru Cantonment, with about 40% of that station project completed and an opening targeted for December 2026.
Why it matters
Additional track capacity on a busy Bengaluru corridor can reduce congestion and enable more passenger and freight train paths once completed.
