Karnataka extends online RTI filing to all Bengaluru One, Karnataka One and Grama One centres

Bengaluru, Karnataka18 Oct 2026

Karnataka extended online RTI filing facilities to all Bengaluru One, Karnataka One and Grama One centres, and brought registration of physical RTI applications under the Sakala Services Act, 2011. Public authorities receiving RTI applications by post or in person must register them on the RTI online portal within two days, enabling applicants to receive an online registration number and track status; delays can trigger Sakala compensation provisions.

Why it matters

This expands access to trackable RTI submission—especially for people without internet access—and creates enforceable timelines for putting RTI requests onto a single online platform.
