NIMHANS and partners to launch HEADS project on AI-assisted depression screening

NIMHANS, in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur and Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH), Tezpur, is set to formally launch the two-year HEADS (Human-in-the-loop Evaluation of Assisted Depression Screening) project on September 24, funded by the Wellcome Trust. The study will build and evaluate AI-assisted approaches for early identification and screening of depression, with a focus on Kannada, Assamese, Hindi, Bengali and English, and a human-in-the-loop framework involving clinicians and a lived-experience expert panel.
