Railway Board redraws boundary; Mysuru division to take over New Mangalore Port rail operations

A Railway Board notification issued on 2026-08-21 fixed the boundary between Mysuru Division (South Western Railway) and Palakkad Division (Southern Railway) on the Shoranur–Mangaluru Central section, with changes to take effect from 2026-10-01. Under the revision, Mysuru division will take over about 55 km of track towards Mangaluru along with stations, loading points and other railway assets, including rail operations linked to New Mangalore Port (Panambur), shifting the interchange point between the two divisions from Padil to Ullal.
