Removal of chemical-contaminated soil begins in Eriyad panchayat, Thrissur

Removal of soil contaminated with hazardous chemical waste began in Eriyad panchayat in Thrissur district, Kerala, from wetlands, ponds and low-lying plots where it had been dumped. The Hindu reported that a few loads were removed on Tuesday, following a meeting chaired by the Revenue Divisional Officer that decided to remove the entire material within two days, under supervision of local officials and the Pollution Control Board.
