Megalithic laterite burial chamber discovered at Nittadukkam in Kanhangad, Kerala

A laterite rock-cut megalithic burial chamber, believed to date to around 2,000 years ago, was discovered at Nittadukkam in Kanhangad municipality, Kasaragod district, Kerala. The site was inspected by a history researcher from Nehru Arts and Science College, Kanhangad, and Kerala State Department of Archaeology officials also confirmed it could be a megalithic chamber.
Why it matters
The find adds concrete archaeological evidence of human habitation in the Kanhangad area around two millennia ago and expands the documented material record of the region’s past.
