Cochin Shipyard approved 50:50 JV with Drydocks World Dubai to run Kochi ISRF

Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) said it has approved a proposal to form a 50:50 joint venture with Drydocks World–Dubai FZCO (a DP World company) to own, operate and manage CSL’s International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) at Willingdon Island, Kochi. CSL plans to transfer the ISRF to the JV on a slump-sale basis as a going concern for a consideration of not less than ₹1,800 crore; the JV also plans to add 10 workstations to augment capacity.
Why it matters
If implemented, the JV would bring additional operational capacity and capability for complex ship repair and maintenance at Kochi’s ISRF, potentially increasing domestic ship-repair throughput.
