Construction begins on international terminal expansion at Thiruvananthapuram airport
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala15 Oct 2026
Work began on the international terminal expansion at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport under “Project Anantha” after the foundation stone was laid on October 15, 2026. The project is described as increasing international passenger-handling capacity from 3.5 million to about 11.5 million passengers per annum; the terminal expansion component is cited at a proposed ₹2,500 crore investment, within a broader transformation backed by about ₹8,700 crore from Adani Airports.
Why it matters
Higher terminal capacity and associated infrastructure upgrades can enable more international passengers and flights to be handled at Thiruvananthapuram, reducing capacity constraints as demand grows.
