ISRO completes Gaganyaan crew-module/service-module separation tests for G1 mission

ISRO completed a series of Crew Module–Service Module (CM-SM) separation tests for the Gaganyaan missions ahead of the first uncrewed Gaganyaan mission (G1), which it said is targeted for launch this year. ISRO said the tests validated the CM-SM separation system design and demonstrated robustness and shock-survivability of critical crew module subsystems.
Why it matters
CM-SM separation is a required step before re-entry; demonstrating the separation system’s functioning reduces risk for the upcoming uncrewed G1 mission and later crewed flights.
