Kerala approves KFON network upgrade and tribal broadband expansion proposals

Kerala’s Electronics and Information Technology Department accorded administrative sanction to Kerala Fibre Optic Network Limited (KFON) proposals to (1) technically upgrade its existing network for more reliable connectivity and (2) expand infrastructure to extend broadband connectivity to tribal communities. The article reports allocations of ₹22.44 crore for the network upgrade (including training/support for last-mile providers) and ₹7.72 crore for the tribal connectivity scheme in the current year.
